Nazi Telegram: Arrest of Children in Izieu

Description: This document is a telex message from the "Befehlshaber der Sicherheitspolizei und des SD" (Commander of the Security Police and the SD) Klaus Barbie about the raid on a Jewish children’s home in Izieu-Ain, called "Colonie Enfant." 41 Jewish children between the ages of 3 and 13 were arrested. The entire Jewish staff (10 people, including 5 women) were also arrested. Money or other valuables could not be secured. The transport to Drancy would take place on April 7, 1944. Drancy was a transit camp near Paris, where Jews were held before being deported to extermination camps like Auschwitz.
